Expeditionskonzert mit Joana Mallwitz
The Qawwali music that the ensemble is bringing to Berlin originally comes from the north of India. It is deeply rooted in Islamic mysticism, Sufism, which focuses on approaching God through various spiritual techniques. Qawwali is a musical tradition that has survived the partition of India and Pakistan and, enriched with popular music from all over the world, continues to produce new timbres to this day. The ensemble of the KM Music Conservatory focuses its program on compositions by the most famous representative of popular Qawwali music, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, as well as Munna Shaokath Àłî, who conducts the ensemble.
