Avigail Bushakevitz, who is one of the 1st violins of the Konzerthausorchester, has joined forces with two guests to form a trio for the Sunday matinee. The programme includes pieces for this instrumentation by two female composers, Mélanie „Mel“ Bonis (1858 - 1937) and Lili Boulanger (1893 - 1918), Claude Debussy's violin sonata and, as the main work, the second piano trio by Dmitri Shostakovich. In it, he mourns his friend Ivan Sollertinski, who died unexpectedly in 1944 at the age of 41, and creates an impressive memorial to the musicologist's broad mind and dismissive attitude towards the regime's prevailing suppression of cultural individuality.
