21. SEPTEMBER 2023
Iveta Apkalna will bring no fewer than four works dedicated to her by Naji Hakim, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Dariusz Przybylski and Pēteris Vasks to the organ recital on September 21, when she takes her seat at our Jehmlich organ in the Große Saal in her final season as organist in residence. She will also play works by Bach's pupil Müthel and by Johann Sebastian Bach himself, including an arrangement of his famous Chaconne from the Partita for solo violin in D minor.
19 October 2023
On October 19, you can then experience our organist in residence at Organo con stromenti in an unusual line-up with baritone Benjamin Appl and accordionist Martynas Levickis. On the programme: works by Monteverdi, Dowland, Bach, Schubert and Dvořák to Alfreds Kalninš, Jāzeps Vītols, Sofia Gubaidulina and Veli Kujala as well as folk music arrangements. Incidentally, the accordion and the organ have more in common than you might think: both make metal reeds sound with the help of air.

On June 23, Iveta Apkalna invites guests to the organ festival – let yourself be surprised by the line-up and the programme.
5 - 7 JULY 2024
Finally, for the finale of her third and last season as Organist in Residence from July 5 to 7, the Latvian artist will perform as a soloist with the Konzerthausorchester and conductor Juraj Valčuha a work of literally world-spanning content: With „Okéanos", which means both ocean and world origin, composer Bernd Richard Deutsch has put "an idea of immense (and sometimes abysmal) size and vastness" evoked by the thought of the organ into a concerto for the instrument.
