Berlin, 04.09.2024 - The Konzerthausorchester Berlin stands in solidarity with the teaching staff of Berlin's public music schools and supports their urgent appeal for safe and fair working conditions. Recent developments triggered by a judgement of the Federal Social Court have left many of the approximately 1,850 freelance teachers facing an uncertain future. These teachers make a significant contribution to maintaining the high quality of musical education for over 45,000 pupils in our city.
"As Konzerthausorchester we see it as our duty to promote and defend musical education and culture in our city. Public music school education is an indispensable part of this culture and deserves our full support.
We therefore call on political decision-makers to secure funding and give teachers future prospects that do justice to their valuable work. Music schools and their teachers must not be left in the lurch. Together, we must stand up for the preservation of lively music education in Berlin."
